Tim Henman started his professional career at the age of 6 in England. His maternal grandparents, including his great- grandmother, all participated in Wimbledon. He was the first tennis player from United Kingdom since Roger Taylor in the 1970`s to reach the semi-finals of the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Championship. During almost a decade Henman kept the hopes of the British, getting to be the most successful tennis player from Great Britain. The British press referred to him as “Tiger Tim”, he was known for his elegant style of serve and volley. He received a silver medal in the Atlanta Olympics 1996. The biggest chance to win the Grand Slam title at Wimbledon was in 2001 when the Brit was defeated by Goran Ivansevic. He retired in 2007.
